Welcome to the SARA-Old Timers


This is the entry page for the Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers (SARA) called SARA-OT (SARA-Old Timers)

A NRAO Navigators program under the leadership of the National Radio Ostronomy Observatory in Green Bank WVA is designed to introduce people to radio astronomy.  Go to http://www.radio-astronomy.org/ and search for Navigators.

SARA-OT  Mission:

The purpose of the SARA-OT group will be to assist the person new to amateur radio astronomy. 

Our present goals are:

1.    Review, update and present past information for use by new radio astronomers.
        Appropriate links for work by others will be included. 

2.    Create an awards or recognition program for beginning radio astronomers.

3.    Develop a step-by-step guide to setting up and operating a radio observatory.

4.   Update the SARA Mentor program to direct new astronomers to persons that will provide specific one-on-one assistance to items of concern.
